Hide not, behind a mask in the office

We are forced to suppress our true feelings in our offices to show that we are civilized to work among our colleagues. Our minds create masks. We hide our true emotions.
Besides. we try our best to hide our own shortcomings and insecurities. There, masks are required for us to put up a defense mechanism.
Research shows that even dark glasses are considered masks. So also, cosmetic surgery which some people do to look more pleasing.
Behavioral scientists confirm that if we have a job that stimulates stress or negative feelings and if we have no choice except to wear a mask day in and day out, it is physically and mentally exhausting.
Because of that, our mental health deteriorates. Faking brings fatigue and illness. Lies are not permanent. People are bound to be exposed over time.
What needs to be done?
Honesty is still the best policy. Let us get rid of the masks. If the job calls for better ability, capability, skills, and knowledge, let us seek help and learn more, equip ourselves, and be fully prepared to face the challenges of the job requirements.
Psychologists strongly advise us to develop one or more true friends in the office who can help one another. Firstly, this is to accept each of them as they are, and secondly, to advise each one of them to overcome their shortcomings. Friendship eliminates loneliness and depression.
One needs to stand on one’s own strength. Being true to oneself builds self-confidence, self-esteem, and personal integrity, which are always appreciated by all.
Besides, there is beauty in being imperfect and that is acceptable to some extent. Sooner or later the mask which we wear comes out and eventually brings us immense pain.
There is a famous quote that says, “We all wear masks, and there comes a time, when we cannot remove them without removing some of our own skin.” This is very true. Let us live without the masks and be true to ourselves and to others.
